Although my business is based online, it often times requires me to make phone calls to sell my service to potential clients. For many years I had business partners take care of this aspect of the business which didn’t work out well. I have since ditched everyone and run the entire show myself.

Making a phone call to sell a service or product can be very intimidating. My sales call require me to sell my service and ask for thousands of dollars, sometimes as much as someone’s yearly income. The fear of rejection and failure can usually be sensed by the other person on the other end of the phone.

One day I read the line “Everyone is like an egg, once you break their shell they are just yolk”. I thought about this and I find it very true. Everyone has the same fears and emotions, and once you break them down it’s all the same.

With this new approach in hand, I started making more calls. My strategy was to quickly break the other person down by finding a common ground before I ask them for money. Once that common ground was found, it feels like you’re talking to a long time friend. The next time you go to make a sales call try to get alittle personal without over doing it before you start talking business. Keep in that rejection is common and that it’s not personal and that the next call could be the one. Good Luck.

Good advice indeed, after all, we are all selling all of the time no matter who we are.

Like the idea of your blog, get ‘em interested and then … that’s the question.

    Good luck,
    Mike.

Jut doing some reading up on here and found this post. I love it. While I am in sales, I really despise them because of how much I hate being sold on something personally. I really try to use this same approach and treat people the very way I would want to be treated…with respect. I like the egg analogy a lot.
