Is Outsourcing a Good Idea?
February 12th, 2007 by asianTom
For many years I did everything for my sites, and often times spent up to 20 hours a day on the computer. This taught me a lot about my business and I believe if you want to succeed in any business you need to get hands on experience.
There comes a point in time, when a business starts to grow and you will have to get outside help to take care of tasks that may slow down your main focus of business. Once my business took off, I would sometimes hire my friends to help with different marketing tasks. With an INTERNET business they were able to work at home and when they wanted.
Now and days I usually hire someone to do the logos for my site, it’s just a very time consuming task for me and it’s just much easier to spend about $30 for a decent logo. I outsource a lot of my work to a site called Get A Free Lancer. It’s an auction style site where people bid for your project. Most of the bids are from India. I usually ask for samples in my project listings, this allows me to see the work by people bidding for my project before I hire them.
Once you hire someone, if they are good, you can develop a working relationship with them and continue them on other projects. I can get very good sites developed for under $300 dollars.

Tom, I’d be interested in seeing examples of some of the sites you’ve had designed in that price range. Do you mind sharing?
