The Kind of Boss Everyone Loves
February 13th, 2007 by asianTom
The word boss usually has a very negative connotation that comes with it, and I’m sure we’ve all had our share of bad bosses. It’s very rare to hear someone say positive things about their boss, so when you become a boss or manager it’s important to become that boss everyone loves.
I remember when I was younger when I worked at a pizza shop, and though the work was easy I honestly hated going to work. I had a manager that was just terrible. He never encouraged employees or rewarded us. When employee morale is down the whole business suffers.
My clients are my bosses, and the best ones are the ones that show signs of appreciation for the work I do. This encourages me to go out of my way to do more and to perform better. When I look to successful companies, it is always great CEOs at the helm leading the way.
All employees should be treated equal, everyone down to the janitor should command the same level of respect. When people are put into positions of authority they automatically think it’s ok to demand and command. Next time you want an employee to do something, try asking them instead of demanding them. Being the boss everyone loves will definitely improve your business. Good luck.

Interesting tips and views on what makes a good boss. For me, I try to be compassionate and understanding to what my team members need, subject to organisational constraints. I even try to push the envelope and get into all kinds of internal lobbying.
