Office In Your Pocket

The Usb flash drive has always been handy, but it wasn’t until recently that it has really taken a new life for me. In the past, I would have to keep full programs on my flash drive if I wanted to use it on the road. This all changed when I came across portable applications. Portable apps are programs that run directly on the usb drive without installing anything on the host computer. It comes with a Windows style start menu and has lots of programs for free. Portable apps can run on any portable drive, so it’s handy to install on external backup drives.
If you have a newer usb drive it may come with U3 technology. U3 is basically the same thing as portable apps but comes preinstalled on the drive and has a few applications that are different from portable apps. I personally like the portable apps better because most of it is open source which encourages more people to write programs.
The applications even has a virus scanner that will protect viruses from the host computer to gettting on your flash drive.
